first snow storm of the season!

First snow storm of the season, 25cms of heavy wet (snowman) snow! And oh, it is the most beautiful day outside.

Ahhh winter, I know I complain about you a fair bit, but you keep proving to me how beautiful you truly are.
In February though, fair warning, I'm kinda over you!

I couldn't even muster up the idea of sending Lilah to school and Phebe was just thrilled to have her big sister home to play with. They made little snowmen, jumped off snow banks, made slides, played babies and mommies, played going to the potty - yes, sometimes their games are questionable and bizarre! I love hearing their role play and the games their little imaginations come up with. My girls enjoy each others company so much, it is such a blessing.

first santa sighting, this year!

reindeer

Phebe had her first Santa sighting, at the mall today. It went like this...

phebe: "Mama, can I go see Santa?"
me: "We don't have time today. We'll come back another day when Lilah's here... but you can wave and say hi as we walk by."
phebe: (busy waving) "Hiiiii Santa!"
*santa turns around, sees her and waves back*
phebe: (in a high pitch voice) "SANTA! I NEED you! I NEED to sit on your knee!"
*santa continues to smile and wave*
phebe: (in an awe filled voice): "Awwww. I so loooove Santa."

What is it about Santa?

a year later!

Untitled

I can't get over how much our Phebe girl has changed, in looks, in the past year.
And yet some things never change. These building blocks have remained one of her favourite activities!

These photos were taken almost exactly a year apart.

lest we forget

Phebe and I attended the service at Lilah's school today, this video was shown during the service.
It was tough enough singing 'God save the Queen', but during this video, I could not keep it together at all.

Lest we forget.

more funnies!

sunglasses

In the swimming pool one day: "Mama, I'm cold... I need a jacket!" - while pointing at the life jackets!

"Mamaaaa! She's trying to cheese me!" - Phebe, talking about Lilah teasing her, she says cheese for tease!

Sometimes she gets chicken and kitchen mixed up!

Looking at a picture of herself one day: "Awww, that's me. She's so cute!"

Driving to the Doctors office one day (Phebe was sick) and an ambulance with siren and flashing lights drove by:
"Oh look Mama, an ambulance, someone is sick! We just go to the doctors in the Volvo!"

While watching a Doc McStuffins show one day: "Is Doc McStuffins at CHEO?" (CHEO is our local Children's Hospital)

"Mama, thank you for the supper. See, I say my manners!"

Looking out the window one evening: "See Mama, it's not dark, it's still on!"

Sometimes when we're walking Lilah up to school she'll say: "I hard to walk Mama!" - In other words, please pick me up!

One Sunday I put on my high heels for Church and she exclaimed:
"Oh Mama, those are your wobbly shoes!" (The word was totally thought up on her own!)

a christmas toy catalogue!

A Christmas toy catalogue arrived in our mailbox yesterday.

Phebe is mesmerized, she's barely set it down since it's arrival. I found her sitting on our bed this afternoon, flicking the pages and animatedly chattering about all the "fun toys"!

Watching my girls with this catalogue, this past two days, brings back really fond childhood memories for me. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was flicking through the many pages of toys, and drooling over all the things I wanted! I'm pretty sure my decisions changed on an hourly basis. Mind you, while I was drooling over all things baby doll - like prams and baby baths and baby clothes and talking babies and peeing babies and crying babies... My girls, on the other hand, have skipped right past the cutesy baby doll stuff and are a lot more interested in the science and construction toys!

Ahh Christmas, it's so much fun!

happy saturday!

My girls were having so much fun this past Saturday...
I just had to stop the house cleaning and snap a few shots.

Didn't take much coaxing, believe me!

it's halloween!

It's that time of year again... and my little black cats couldn't have been happier!

Candy. Did someone mention candy?! There is definitely one sweet toothed child in our house, and it's not Lilah! Phebe could eat candy all day long. If there's candy involved, she's there, with a big old grin on her sweet face! (No pun intended!)

My girls had so much fun out trick or treating with our neighbours daughter, Zoƫ. They went around the neighbours we know really well, about 10-15 houses altogether and then came home to enjoy their loot. Actually, like last year, my girls favourite part of the evening was getting to see everyone that came to our door. I left them in charge of handing out the candy and they were really pleased. They were just so excited every time they heard the doorbell, it was sweet listening to them as they handed over the candy and shouted "Happy Halloween" every single time!

Phebe's little preschool had a little Halloween party too (on Tuesday) and she got her face painted as a puppy dog! She was pretty thrilled and spent the rest of the day panting and barking!

C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween! C'est l'halloween!
